Summer is in full swing at NJ farms and they are welcoming you to come and pick everything from veggies, to mouth-watering fruits, and yes flowers, what better way to celebrate summer with beauty than with an array of nature's local color palette! Our summer has been fun so far visiting farms throughout NJ because not only are we professional photographers but we know our way around the kitchen and we love to grow our own stuff and this summer we are highlighting some of the awesome farms within our great Garden State!  So what does this have to do with weddings again, well a lot! Aside from the fact that so many farms are now offering their beautiful picturesque properties for hosting your dream wedding, but what better way to get some of the most stunning farm fresh flowers locally grown for your bridal bouquets and centerpieces. The rest of this summer into early fall we will feature several NJ farms that offer something unique that can tie into your wedding planning, including great farm venues to get engaged or hitched!

Our first stop along our Farm To Aisle series is Terhune Orchards located in Princeton, NJ. This beautiful 10th generation farm still currently operated by the Mount family offers everything from farm raised vegetables and herbs which can be purchased at their on premises market, to pick your own seasonal fruits and flowers, and last but not least, they also have a winery!

Brides if you are looking to save a little on your floral decor, but you still want eye-catching fresh bouquets, then get your bridal party ladies together and make a day of it visiting the farm before your big day, cut your flowers and oh yes, get some wine sampling in:) If you prefer, they also take flower orders and they will cut them for you to save you some time, but you must contact their farm to pre-order your flowers 7 days in advance.  They offer many various varieties of flowers which include zinnias, purple salvia, cosmos, verbena bonariensis, gomphrenas, rudbeckia (corn-flowers), celosis, and the widely sought after dahlias in August and September.

Terhune Orchards supplies you with scissors to cut your flowers and they charge a reasonable amount per stem and if you are picking quite a lot to design bouquets and arrangements make sure you bring a large container with water to keep them fresh for your big day!

Their farm is a perfect setting for bridal showers, engagement parties, family gatherings, corporate events, and baby showers, after you walk the aisle;) You are welcome to host your event indoors at their winery, which holds a maximum capacity of 80 guests and if you prefer to tent your event outdoors the maximum is 200 guests.

So if you are in the midst of wedding planning and you want to try something different with your decor by incorporating local flowers that have been designed by you the "artist" bride, step out of the box of hiring a florist and come pick your own flowers at Terhune Orchards to "wow" your guests, who needs David Tutera, you got this ;)
